The Eldest Daughter
Zaynab was the eldest daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, born of Khadija in the fifth year of their marriage. She was married to her cousin Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi’, and bore him a son, Ali, who died young, and a daughter, Umama — the little girl the Prophet ﷺ would carry and set down as he prayed, and whom Ali later married after Fatimah’s death. 1 Stories of the Sahabah · pp. 259–260 — Zakariyya Kandhlawi — Zaynab the eldest daughter; her marriage to Abu al-As; her children Ali and Umama.
Emigration and Death
When she emigrated to Madinah she was harried by the Quraysh and took an injury on the journey from which she never recovered; she suffered long and died of it in early 8 AH. Her husband Abu al-As afterward accepted Islam and rejoined her. 2 Stories of the Sahabah · pp. 261 — Zakariyya Kandhlawi — Zaynab's injury during emigration, her lingering illness and death in early 8 AH; her husband's later Islam.
