Amnesty at the Conquest
Safwan ibn Umayya was a chief of Banu Jumah, son of Umayya ibn Khalaf who fell at Badr. At the conquest of Makkah he fled in fear, but the Prophet ﷺ granted him amnesty at the request of Umayr ibn Wahb, sending his own shawl as a token of safety and giving him time to decide his faith. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 197–199 — Kandhlawi — Safwan granted amnesty at the conquest; the Prophet sends his shawl as surety and grants him time.
Won by Generosity
Still a disbeliever, Safwan rode with the Muslims to Hunayn and Ta’if, even lending them armour. At Ji’irrana, gazing at a valley filled with camels and sheep, the Prophet ﷺ gave him the whole valley. Overwhelmed, Safwan embraced Islam on the spot, saying: “Only the heart of a prophet could be so generous.” 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 199–200 — Kandhlawi — the Prophet gives Safwan a valley full of livestock at Ji'irrana; Safwan embraces Islam, saying only a prophet's heart could be so generous.
