Tortured for Faith
Abu Fukayha — whose name was Yasar — was a slave of Safwan ibn Umayya, given over to Umayya ibn Khalaf, who tortured him without mercy: ropes tied to his feet and his body dragged through the streets; laid face-down on the burning sand with a great boulder on his back; throttled till the people around thought he was dead. Ubayy ibn Khalaf would pass and urge his brother to throttle him further. 1 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 93 — Idris Kandhlawi — Abu Fukayha's torture by Umayya ibn Khalaf; ropes, hot sand, and throttling.
Freed by Abu Bakr
Abu Bakr happened to pass by, and purchased and freed Abu Fukayha — one of the seven slaves he ransomed for Allah’s sake before the Hijra. 2 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 93–94 — Idris Kandhlawi — Abu Bakr purchases and frees Abu Fukayha; one of seven slaves Abu Bakr ransomed.
