In the Prophet’s ﷺ Fajr Du’a
al-Walid ibn al-Walid, brother of Khalid ibn al-Walid, was among the oppressed Muslims of Makkah held back from emigration by their own families. After the prayer the Prophet ﷺ raised his hands and prayed: “O Allah, free Salama ibn Hisham, Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi’a, al-Walid ibn al-Walid, and the weak Muslims who can find no way out.” 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 3 · pp. 388 — Kandhlawi — the Prophet's Fajr du'a naming al-Walid ibn al-Walid among the oppressed Muslims of Makkah.
The Letter That Helped Win Khalid
Reaching Madinah at the Compensatory Umrah, he searched Makkah for his hesitating brother Khalid and left him a letter beginning, “I have seen nothing more astonishing than that a man of your intelligence still holds back from Islam,” and conveying the Prophet’s ﷺ word that he eagerly awaited him — words that helped move Khalid to come and embrace Islam. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 180–181 — Kandhlawi — al-Walid's letter to his brother Khalid urging him to Islam, and the Prophet's eager words about him.
