A Badr Veteran with Ali
Sahl ibn Hunayf was an Ansari of the Aws who fought at Badr. At Siffin, when Ali’s right wing was hard pressed, it was Sahl ibn Hunayf whom he sent at the head of the Madinan contingent to reinforce it. 2 History of Islam · Vol 1 · pp. 468 — Najeebabadi — Ali sends Sahl ibn Hunayf with the men of Madinah to reinforce his right wing at Siffin. He died at Kufa, and Ali himself led the prayer over him.
