An Early Convert
“Uthman ibn Maz’un, Qudama ibn Maz’un, Sa’eed ibn Zaid, Fatima — the sister of Umar ibn Khattab and wife of Sa’eed — were next to join the caravan of Islam.” 1 History of Islam · Vol 1 · pp. 106 — Najeebabadi — Qudama ibn Maz'un among the earliest converts.
Governor of Bahrain — and Lashed
Abdullah ibn Aamir ibn Rabi’a narrated: “Umar appointed Qudama bin Madh’un as governor of Bahrain. Qudama also happened to be the maternal uncle of Umar’s two children Hafsa and Abdullah.” When Jarud and Abu Hurayra testified to his drinking, and his own wife Hind bint al-Walid confirmed it, Umar had him lashed in the prescribed penalty. Umar was angry with him a long time, until they met at Suqya and Umar reconciled with him after a dream. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 2 · pp. 380–382 — Kandhlawi — Umar lashes Qudama for drink; later reconciles at Suqya.
