The Eye Restored at Uhud
Qatada ibn al-Nu’man was an Ansari of the Aws who had fought at Badr. At Uhud he set himself before the Prophet ﷺ to shield his blessed face from the enemy’s arrows; when his bowstring broke he went on shielding the Prophet ﷺ with his own face, until an arrow struck his eye and the eyeball fell upon his cheek. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 536 — Kandhlawi — Qatada shields the Prophet's face at Uhud until an arrow strikes out his eye. He carried his eye to the Prophet ﷺ, who set it back in its place and prayed over it; and it became the better and sharper of his two eyes, unharmed to the end of his days. 2 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 314 — Idris Kandhlawi — the Prophet replaces Qatada's eye and prays for it; it becomes his finer eye.
