The Striking-Down of Abu Jahl
Mu’awwidh and his brother Mu’adh were young Ansaris of Banu Najjar, sons of Afra. At Badr, both had vowed to kill Abu Jahl, the great enemy of the Prophet ﷺ. When Abdur Rahman ibn Awf pointed him out in the press, they darted at him like two falcons with their swords and struck him down together. The Prophet ﷺ examined their swords and said: “You have both killed him.” 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 535 — Kandhlawi — the two sons of Afra dart at Abu Jahl and kill him together; the Prophet says 'You have both killed him.'
Martyrdom at Badr
After Abu Jahl was finished, Mu’awwidh did not turn back — he fought on until he was martyred there at Badr. 2 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 249 — Idris Kandhlawi — Mu'awwidh continues fighting at Badr until he is martyred.
