A Dream and an Early Faith
Khalid ibn Sa’id ibn al-As, of Banu Umayya, was among the very first to accept Islam — by some reports the fourth or fifth. His path began with a dream: he saw his father pushing him toward a blazing fire while the Prophet ﷺ held him back by the waist; Abu Bakr interpreted it that he would follow the Prophet ﷺ into Islam, and so he did. 1 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 51–52 — Idris Kandhlawi — Khalid's dream of the fire and the Prophet saving him; Abu Bakr's interpretation; his early Islam.
Persecution and Emigration
His father raged at his conversion, beating him until the whip broke on his head and cutting off his food; Khalid answered that Allah would provide, and left to keep the company of the Prophet ﷺ, later joining the emigrants to Abyssinia. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 89–90 — Kandhlawi — Khalid's father tortures him for his Islam; Khalid leaves for the Prophet and emigrates to Abyssinia. Under Abu Bakr he was sent as a commander to Syria, where he gave his life in the early campaigns there.
