Narrator and Teacher

Imran ibn Husayn was of the tribe of Khuza’a, who embraced Islam around the time of Khaybar and became a teacher of hadith — an old man with white hair who would sit and narrate in the great mosque of Basra. He held back from narrating overmuch, fearing others might differ from his wording, though he could have related for days without repeating. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 3 · pp. 243, 249 — Kandhlawi — Imran teaches hadith in the mosque of Basra and is cautious in how much he narrates.

Patience and the Greeting of the Angels

Through a long illness he bore his suffering with patience, and the angels would come and greet him. This grace paused after he allowed himself to be cauterised for treatment — then, when the wound healed, the greetings returned; he passed away soon after, having asked that this be kept secret until his death. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 3 · pp. 545 — Kandhlawi — the angels greet Imran in his illness; the greeting stops after cautery and returns when he heals; he dies soon after.
