At Umar’s Death-bed
al-Miqdam narrated: “When Umar was wounded, Hafsa entered the room saying, ‘O Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ! O father-in-law of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ! O Commander of the Believers!’ Umar said to his son, ‘O Abdullah! Help me to sit up because I cannot tolerate what I am hearing.’… Umar said to Hafsa: ‘By the rights that I have over you, I prohibit you from wailing over me after this. Whenever a deceased person is praised for what was not in him, the angels record this against him.’” 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 2 · pp. 487 — Kandhlawi — al-Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib narrates Umar's last counsel to Hafsa.
