The Death-Pledge at Yarmuk
At Yarmuk, Ikrima ibn Abi Jahl stood up and asked: “Who will pledge to fight to their deaths?” al-Harith — Ikrima’s paternal uncle — was among the four hundred who took the pledge at his hand. They fought before Khalid’s tent until the wounds incapacitated them; a great number were martyred — and al-Harith ibn Hisham among them. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 520–521 — Kandhlawi — al-Harith ibn Hisham takes the death-pledge with Ikrima at Yarmuk.
