Runner of the Hijra
Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr was the eldest son of Abu Bakr. During the three days the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr hid in the cave of Thawr, Abdullah passed his days openly among the Quraysh of Makkah, listening for their plans, and at night brought what he had heard to the mouth of the cave — leaving again before dawn. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 341 — Kandhlawi — Abdullah passes the day in Makkah gathering Quraysh intelligence and brings it to the cave each night. 2 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 163, 165 — Idris Kandhlawi — Abdullah carries news from Makkah to the cave of Thawr at night.
Escort of the Family
When the time came, Abu Bakr wrote to him to bring Umm Ruman, Aisha and Asma along with Zaynab to Madinah on the camels that Zayd ibn Haritha had brought, and Abdullah saw them safely through. 3 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 369–370 — Kandhlawi — Abdullah escorts Umm Ruman, Aisha and Asma on the Hijra. He later took an arrow-wound at Ta’if that festered; it reopened after the Prophet’s ﷺ death and he died of it in Madinah.
